The Expertise system is a roleplay-centric framework through which characters learn and develop particular skills, abilities, and powers for use in roleplay scenarios and for benefits in GM-run events.
For a detailed explanation of the system and how it works, see this page:
The page is also available in Google Doc form here.
Check here for more detailed information about feats, as well as a set of pre-defined Feats established by Staff. Feats not listed here may be requested.
Submit a ticket once the character is eligible. Use this format:
Expertise/Feat Request
Character Name:
Expertise Ranks or Feats Requested:
RP Justification for Each Expertise, Feat, or Rank-Up:
Does your character have at least 200 total SP?:
Is the relevant skill rank 50?:
Pilot 1, Pilot 2, Diplomacy 1.Justifications should focus on in-game roleplay rather than long backstory. Staff may deny requests that do not show enough active roleplay for the requested rank.
These are things that are considered too powerful or difficult to manage to place in Player hands without a vetting process that just isn't worth dealing with - or at all. These may appear as plot points or NPC abilities.
You may request an expertise that is not listed below, especially for RP-focused skills. The list is not exhaustive, but any expertise not listed here will require staff oversight to determine what precisely they govern and allow for.
Dark Side expertise must be portrayed as corruptive and dangerous. Powerful Dark Side abilities, including Sorcery, Alchemy, Lightning, and Drain, require appropriate roleplay around corruption, cost, and consequence. Characters cannot pursue or use the Dark Side as an objectively good or harmless path.
High-rank Dark Side practitioners are assumed to have practiced extensively. Consequences may be temporary or permanent depending on the character's actions and the story involved.
Remember that this list is not comprehensive, and you are not limited to asking for or applying for fields of expertise listed here. If you want an expertise in something not present, simply create a ticket and ask, and Staff can work with you if it is something deemed suitable.
