What is Force Barrier?
It is an application of the Force meant to create a shield, bubble, or 'wall' made from energy drawn from the Force itself. These barriers are simple and immobile relative to the Force User creating them, and can block or absorb both physical and energy-based attacks. They can also be used to strategically keep things in or out, like liquids and gases, or to trap a person in place.
What can Force Barrier not do?
No Points: Force Barrier is at its core a very basic use of the Force, but without honing it as a particular skill your capabilities with it are very limited. With no points, you can make a very simple one-sided or dome shield around yourself with concentration - while keeping this shield up, you must focus on this task entirely. Your barrier is not particularly strong, but could stop light blaster fire, small debris, or shrapnel from a grenade blast.
1 Point: You begin to have more control and confidence in your barriers. They can more reliably protect against somewhat stronger attacks, and you could expand a dome bubble to encompass people very close to you. You have enough fine control to keep liquids or gases from passing through the barrier, but not enough to selectively allow some things but not others. You can move and keep your barrier moving with you, but you cannot move the barrier independently of yourself.
2 Points: You have learned to allow specific things in or out of the barrier but not others, and have enough precision that you can create barriers within your own nostrils and air passages to keep harmful fumes and gases out of your system. You cannot protect anyone else in this way, and this does not protect you from anything that would harm you by exposure to your skin or mucous membranes - for this, you must still use a larger dome barrier - but this can function as an alternative to Breath Control. Your protective barriers can also hold up to limited strong blasterfire or sustained light attacks. You are able to create barriers around other people or objects specifically, such as to attempt to contain a grenade blast or try to hold someone in a specific spot - but the strength of these containment barriers is limited.
3 Points: You are able to make very strong barriers around yourself and others near you, holding up to sustained blaster fire and heavy impacts. They can protect a moderate area around yourself. You can make containment barriers of good strength now.
3☆ (Mastery): Your barriers are remarkably strong and can extend to large areas around yourself. With concentration, you can hold immense threats at bay while your allies work, or contain things within a significant space.
