This expertise represents your character's ability to help the body and spirit recover from injuries and tainted wounds, curses, or other supernatural maladies. Whether the approach is spiritual or scientific, physical injuries healed in this way are healed through speeding up and enhancing the patient's body's natural healing process, which requires energy from the healer and especially the patient to accomplish. This energy usually comes from the body itself, in the same way the body naturally expends energy when healing normally, and can thus be supplied and supplemented through any source by which the body would naturally gain energy, such as by consuming food.
At no level should you be able to completely remove all recovery time from serious injuries, nor can you cure someone fully of diseases not caused by external influence.
What can Force Healing do?
No Points: You can use Curato Salva to heal yourself slowly and in small bursts, and Detoxify Poison to lessen the effects of toxins you are exposed to. Healing others is more difficult and takes close contact and concentration - at best, you are stopping bleeding and preventing injuries from getting worse. Things like mild cuts and bruises are very manageable, but blaster and saber burns, deep lacerations, and internal injuries are beyond your ability to mend quickly. You cannot remove Dark Side taint from someone.
1 Point: Your influence over the energies of the Living Force is growing stronger, and you have a good functional understanding of how the Force flows through the body during healing. You are able to heal others reliably now, and can readily stabilize a patient in most cases. Minor injuries are trivial to fix, and you are capable at tackling moderate wounds. At this stage, you can also reliably use Detoxify to purge the effects of intoxication and alcohol poisoning, as well as begin attempting to cleanse small amounts of Dark taint from a victim.
2 Points: You are a skilled and knowledgeable healer. Broken bones and serious burns are within your skill to fix, and you're even able to help people recover from dangerous toxins and troublesome illnesses like snake venom, infected wounds, or similar. You have enough control and skill now to guide the body to regenerate lost and damaged soft tissue, though this takes concentration and drains your stamina rapidly. Your command of biology is now also sufficient that you can, if needed, use Malacia to defend yourself by attempting to incapacitate an opponent with a wave of overwhelming nausea and vertigo.
3 Points: You are something of a miracle-worker - the worms want to wiggle, and you know how to enable this. Even severe injuries are within your ability to treat and heal, greatly reducing recovery time and potentially recovering some function that might otherwise have been lost. You are able to better handle regeneration of soft tissue now, and can even attempt to regrow damaged or missing bone to some degree - but regrowing a whole lost limb, for instance, is out of your reach.
3☆ (Mastery): Your command of the healing arts is legendary. Common injuries are nothing to you, you can correct even old and chronic issues expertly, and your mastery is such that you can even surpass some of the need for supplementary energy sources. You can restore lost flesh and bone quite capably, and even attempt to tackle the body's most complicated structures such as the nerves, eyes, and brain - but even at your level, this takes immense focus and exacts an extreme toll on you. You can attempt to restore function to otherwise permanently damaged body structures - once. This should be done with permission and discussion of all involved parties.
