Crafting skills allow you to create various useful and important equipment or in-game items. One commonly agreed upon facet of crafting perks is that the only crafting actions worth taking are Basic Touch, Master's Mend, and Waste Not. The other crafting actions are not recommended and players' SP are best spent elsewhere.
Leveling crafting skills can be slow and difficult after the first few levels considering the materials required must either be gathered or purchased. As such, many level until the time investment becomes too difficult and then use RPXP to help power level their crafting skills to maximum.
Gathering is simply leveled by mining ore and tree nodes, harvesting plant nodes, or searching containers like those found in the Mandalorian compound on Viscara or the Tusken camp.
Another important help is to use the Leadership Perk “Dedication” to help power level these skills, even if only the first tier of the Perk.

It is a known issue with SWLOR and NWN's interface that when purchasing perks you cannot purchase more then 4-5 perks at a time without crashing. To avoid this, purchase only 4-5 and then close your perk menu and character sheet to be safe, then reopen it and purchase 4-5 more. This will prevent your client from crashing.
