Death to Tyrants.
Once a loose collection of various smugglers, pirates, and other criminals - the Free Fleet formed from a number of these individuals and crews who shared a single mutual goal; freedom for all. Depending on who you ask, they might be heralded as freedom fighters, or scorned as terrorists.
With roots in the underworld, the Free Fleet operates like a scaled-up pirating crew, with a majority of their focus going into their ships and pilots, of which they are known to be some of the best in the Galaxy. Of course, any good criminal enterprise includes those with a vast variance of skill sets, and the Free Fleet is no exception. They are not a military organization, and thus do not command the same sheer scale of might and numbers that other major powers do, but this comes with the benefit of being able to move far quicker and quieter than others. Able to move across even the most dangerous parts of the Galaxy, their focus is primarily on the liberation of the oppressed, regardless by whom.
Tyranny is what they combat, in whatever form it takes. Be it the Cartel, the Exchange, the Empire, and even the Republic when it is called for. When navigating between the lines of these far greater powers, information, adaptiveness, skill, and maybe a bit of luck keep the Fleet going. If you ask them, however? They will tell you precisely what fuels them.
