Dice Rolls
This is a lightweight ground event system for quick tactical scenes where the DM/QM wants simple movement, HP, damage, and damage reduction.
Best For Fast ground event combat.
Players Needed Any event group size.
Dice Used d20.
Typical Stakes Scene victory, defeat, retreat, objective progress, or temporary removal from combat.
Needs DM/QM Yes.
Consent Required Required for PvP or lasting consequences.
Each PC has 25 HP for this event format.
Each player should know their best offensive mastery and best defensive mastery before play begins.
A single mastery cannot count as both offensive and defensive.
Movement is measured in event squares, not normal grid-combat facing. The DM/QM will show the map scale in play.
A character may move 0-2 squares .
A character may withdraw from a square containing active ground hostiles.
A character may not move through a square containing active ground hostiles.
To attack, specify the target, roll d20, then state the final roll and applicable bonuses in party chat before emoting the attack.
Target: [target name]
Roll: d20
Party chat: [roll] + [bonus] = [total]
¶ Damage and Defense
The best offensive mastery is added directly to the attack result and is subtracted from the hostile target's HP.
The best defensive mastery is subtracted from incoming damage as direct mastery DR.
One other form of DR may be added to mastery DR.
A shield in hand grants +2 DR to yourself.
A lightsaber grants +2 DR against blaster fire.
Heavy armor grants +2 DR , treated like the shield bonus.
¶ Failure and Aftermath
Characters reduced to 0 HP are out of the scene or suffer the DM/QM-declared event consequence. Lasting outcomes must be declared before rolling.
We are using Intrepid Quick Event Combat. PC HP is 25. Declare one offensive and one defensive mastery before the first round.
The source system does not define a universal hit DC or defense score. The DM/QM must explain whether d20 rolls are being used as damage, attack totals against a target number, or another event-specific resolution before combat starts.
